Welcome to the Mount Mahony XC!
We would like to acknowledge that this race and trail network reside on the unceded traditional lands of the Coast Salish People, particularly the ɬaʔamɩn gɩǰɛ (Tla’amin) Nation and are thankful for this understanding. We are extremely excited to bring Island Cup racing to Mount Mahony. Like other communities, we have seen growth in our mountain bike community. This race, and these trails are the result of an amazing community of hard working volunteers. Some are cyclists, some are not, but they are all hard-working people who give hours upon hours of time to maintain these trails. Thank you to everyone who has helped to get this event off the ground. To those of you who have come from out of town, we all know the effort that it takes to come to our community. The ferries are a huge hurdle for all of us. Thank you for making the effort to come to our race.
The Qathet Regional Cycling Association is excited to announce the opening of a few new trails for this race. We will be riding a section of our new climb trail, two new downhill trails, and a section of everyone’s favorite trail, Fairies Wear Boots. We will also be hosting most of the pre, and post race activities in the brand new parking area for the Mount Mahony trail network.

Schedule of Events
Saturday May 18th
The course will be marked. Feel free to go pre ride. Note that although Mount Mahony is a mountain bike trail network, there may be other users on the trails. We have done everything to notify trail users in our community that there is a race on May 18th. If you’re out riding, and come across other trail users. Stop and say ‘hi’!
Package pick up – 16:00 – 19:00 @ SuperCharger Pizza – 4701 Marine Avenue
Race numbers can also be picked up morning of the race in the Mount Mahony Parking Lot.
Come on Saturday night and get SuperCharged!
Sunday May 19th
Shuttle from TAWS Bike Garage to Mount Mahony – 08:15-08:30
If you are planning on doing a day trip, you’re welcome to walk on the ferry and be shuttled to the race start. We’ll also shuttle you back after! Please contact us to arrange your shuttle – justin@tawsbikegarage.com
Race Sign In – 08:00
If you didn’t get your package at SuperCharger on Saturday, Race Sign in will be open at 08:00.
Race Start – 10:00
We decided to get at it a bit earlier than the rest of the events so that people could catch the ferry back at a reasonable hour. Racing starts at 10:00 for experts, 10:02 for intermediate, 10:04 for beginner.
Race Finish – 13:00
We expect all riders to be finished on the course around 1pm
Awards and prizes to begin after all racers finish.
Shuttle back to TAWS Bike Garage – 15:00
Shuttle back to downtown Powell River.
SuperCharger Pizza, Townsite Brewing, Costa Del Sol and Coastal Cookery are all open Sunday if you need to refuel.
Ferry to Comox - 17:15
Ferry departs back to Comox.
